Budget Deal Reached: No New Taxes

Steve Frank of CA Political News broke the news this afternoon, and The Street has independently confirmed with a high-ranking Caucus official that a final budget deal has been reached, and will be voted on tomorrow.

Word has it that a budget with NO NEW TAXES is now on the table and has been tentatively agreed to by all four Caucus offices.

We won't hold our breath until the ink dries, but a huge congrats goes out to Assemblyman Villines, Senator Dave Cogdill, and all of the other Legislators who have HELD THE LINE on taxes (Doug LaMalfa, Chuck Devore, Jim Battin, Mark Wyland, Sam Aanestad, and others....) And of course, credit where credit is due, to the Democrat leadership for their open-minded approach in sparing the hardworking families and business owners of California.

To brush up on the No New Taxes budget, check out the Senate Republican Caucus site which has a pretty good primer for all things budget: http://cssrc.us/

Stay tuned...
